SUSHI CONVEYOR BELT
-
The sushi conveyor belt was invented by Yoshiaki Shiraishi. It is said that he conceived the idea of a sushi conveyer belt after watching beer bottles moving on a conveyer belt in a brewery.
-
Shiraishi opened the first ever restaurant to feature this conveyor belt for sushi in Osaka in 1958. The restaurant was called Mawaru Genroku Sushi. At its peak, his 'Genryoku Sagyo' chain of restaurants expanded to over 250 restaurants all over Japan.

The sushi conveyor belts are commonly made of rubber and are used to convey items with irregular bottom surfaces, as well as small items that would fall in between rollers.
